Seniors Recognized for Exceptional Service
During Senior Project, John Helling '10 and Andrew Salamone '10 dedicated the month of January to serving at the Saint Louis Crisis Nursery, where they helped care for children of “at risk” families. In recognition for their efforts, both seniors will be presented with the Student Volunteer of the Year Award at the organization’s annual awards banquet in April.
DeCaro ’01 Embarks on Iditarod
When David DeCaro ’01 moved to Alaska five years ago, he had little intention of staying and no plans to work with sled dogs. Since then, the North has grown on him. In a twist of fate, DeCaro is now setting out for his debut in the Iditarod, a 1,150-mile dog sled race across Alaska, an event often referred to as “the last great race on Earth.”
Two Seniors Make Junior Olympics
Two marksmen from the SLUH Riflery squad have received invitations from USA Shooting to compete in the Junior Olympics this spring. Houston Barber ’10 and Dan Hermsmeier ’10 qualified for the Junior Olympics after impressive performances at the Missouri State Qualifier in January.
SLUH enhances its curriculum with computer labs, laptop carts, classroom projectors and SmartBoards.
